Alcohol ink bonanza!

Design inspiration from Kelly Latevola - see her tutorials at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0mWYv7D7vu8

I have been playing with alcohol inks a bunch lately, creating many backgrounds using Yupo paper and foil with the inks.  I am loving the vibrant colors and abstract papers I can create so easily with them.  But I was coming up almost blank when it came to using them in my card making.  So, I went to YouTube of course and found a wonderful artist named Kelly Latevola.  She had designed some cards that I fell in love with instantly.  Now those of you who know me know that I don't steal designs very often - in fact, almost never... but when I needed a sympathy card and a birthday card this weekend, I couldn't resist creating my own version of her wonderful cards.  I have put a link to Kelly's videos under the photos, so I would encourage you to go check them out... stunning to say the least.

(I don't feel right putting these into challenges since they are not my design...)

Have a great Wednesday!

O-Fish-Ally Awesome!

Swimming by today to share this cute little make using the set called "Fintastic Friends" from Lawn Fawn, colored with my Copics.  The sentiment is from the "Dad + Me" set from Lawn Fawn as well.  The papers are from My Minds Eye and the finishing touch was a patterned ribbon from Hobby Lobby.

Dare to be fabulous!

Just a quick pop in today to share another make - this one is using one of the versatile and wonderful stamps from Art Impressions.  I find their stuff to be so fun to work with - and they have so many designs and options to chose from.  Love 'em!

This one is called Dare to Be Fabulous and let's get real... it is dahling!  The set has some great images and sentiments to pick from and really could be for any occasion.  I added some cute swirly backgrounds to put the image and the sentiment on from Spellbinders call Swirl Delight .  Patterned paper from Die Cuts with a View and a pretty ribbon finish it off.

Ewe are loved - My Favorite Things

I have a wonderful friend who is going through a rough time right now with the health of her mom.  I wanted to send her a card to let her know I was thinking of her and praying for her and her family.  This card I created last time Torrey was here just seem to say what I was wanting to convey.

I used the adorable stamp collection from My Favorite Things called Ewe Are The Best.  If I remember right the challenge Torrey had given me before I made this one was "black and white with one pop of color"... not my easiest challenge, but I think I pulled it off.  It's smaller than normal but the images dictated the size, (2.75" x 4.25").

The images are colored with my Copics, fussy cut out cause I don't have the die cuts to match, and placed on a simple blocked background.  Nothing special in the design, but I think it fit the mood well.

Llama lovin'

You just gotta love a photo-bombing llama more than just about anything, right?  This card just makes me giggle.  I put "Bad llama, bad llama" inside and gave it to my son-in-law who loves the movie Emperors New Groove - so it was just perfect.  Nothing too fancy, but with this adorable set from Gerda Steiner called Llama Tell You, I had just about everything I needed.  A little coloring, some pen work and an oval die cut set was all it took to create this hilarious card.

Just Chicken In - Taylored Expressions

It's been a stressful couple of weeks, so not too much time in my craft room... (sniff sniff)... but hoping to get back in there soon!

So, I'm showing an older make today.  This stamp set called Happy Hens is from Taylored Expressions and I immediately fell in love with it.  Of course, I kinda have a thing for chickens, so it was no big decision when I found it - obviously, I HAD to have it!

I used my Spectrum Noir Aqua Markers from Crafter's Companion to color it, and then added quite a bit of  Ranger's Distress Ink around the edges to give it that vintage look.  The grosgrain ribbon and colored twine combine with the button to add to the country feel.

Happy Birthday - Mo Manning style

I needed a springtime Happy Birthday card for a dear friend who's birthday is tomorrow - so what better image than to pick Mo Manning's "End of Summer" - which to me, looks like spring.

I used my Copics to add color, then a Spellbinder's zigzag edge die to cut it out.  Some bright and colorful patterned paper from my scraps, along with a gingham ribbon and some punched flowers add pizzazz.   The sentiment stamp is from my endless supply of non-descript and unlabeled sentiment stamps.  (What was I thinking way back then...?)

Special Day

Back today to share a make from this adorable Mo Manning image.  I used the stamp called "Goodness" inked up with my Copics.  The papers are from my scrap stash and the sentiment die and stamp are from Whimsy Stamps but I can't find them on her site, so they may be discontinued.  I used a fun stitched die frame from Cottage Cutz to frame the image.  Some lace across the bottom and some clear sequins added a soft girly touch.
