CYP #112 - For Baby

Just a quick post before we head out to celebrate our country's military men and women - Happy Memorial Day!  I give thanks each and every day for the opportunity I have of living in freedom and for those who gave me that chance.
Craft Your Passion is up for another challenge and this week the theme is "For Baby".  I always like to have a baby gratz card or two on hand - you always need one now and then.  The image is from Patties Creations and was really fun to color with my Copics.  I used my Cricut for the background mat shape, and streaked all the papers with some white acrylic paint to shabby it up a little bit.  I added a simple sentiment and a pretty bow to finish it.
Come join our challenge this week.  I would love to see your baby card!
I will be entering this in the following challenges:
OLLCB - #107 - Make it Girly
Make it Monday - #91 - Linky Party

DD #20 - Bling it out

It's celebration time over at Delicious Doodles - time to bling it out!  Apparently across the pond they are celebrating something called the Queen's Jubilee.  Now at the risk of sounding culturally stinted, I have to admit that I am not familiar with that one...  So, I went with "Bling it out" as my theme this week.  Pop on over to join in the fun with a chance to win some great images!

I had a blast with this image - coloring her with my Copcis.  I colored the edges as well, but then went back over it with my blender pen to bleed it out.  I love the way it turned out.  These papers are from a pack from DCWV, a total of four different patterned papers.  The one in the back had these great butterflies on it that I silloette cut out to pop off the card, accenting the fairy perfectly.  A lot of bling and a pretty ribbon finished it off nicely.  I just love it!

I will be entering this in the following challenges:
Paper Play Challenges - #21 - Summer lovin (in the garden)
Charisma Cardz Challenges - #20 - No flowers allowed (just lots of flutterbys)
Creative Card Crew - #11 - Demension (all of the butterflies are demensional, plus the image is popped off the background)
One Stitch At A Time - #114 - Anything goes (kinda self explanatory, don't you think?)
Creative Craft Challenges 2 - Distressing (all edges are inked and the frame is done with bleeding the ink, then stippling)

For my dad

I've been showing cards I've made for mom lately, thought I better bring out the one I made for dad's birthday as well.  I had such a blast making this one, giving him such a hard time about turning 84... In reality, he can still run circles around me and doesn't even look 70 - but of course, I had to poke a little fun at him with this one.
I got this image from Ron Leishman's great site - his images always make me giggle and he has such a great variety to chose from.  I colored it up with my Copics and I kept the card simple (I always seem to do that with "man" cards), letting the image and sentiment speak for themselves.  I believe I got this sentiment from Create with TLC (but I'm not sure).  I used some great papers from DCWV and some brads from my stash.  Didn't it turn out great?
I will be entering this card in the following challenges:
Charisma Cardz Challenge #20 - No flowers
Simon Says Stamp - Father's Day / For the male
Make it Monday - #90 - Linky party
Chocolate, Coffee & Cards - #13 - For the boys
Have an awesome day!

CYP #111 - Sketch

It's challenge time over at Craft Your Passion again and this week we have one of Jenn's great sketches for you to work with.  Sketches give such a great jump start to the creative process.  We have three great sponsors this week, so plenty of chances to win awesome prizes.  I used a cute digi from Robyns Festish to make this card.  I printed her on craft paper and used my Prisma's to color her, keeping it soft and muted to match these wonderful papers from DCWV.  Then, following the sketch made completing the card a breeze.

I will be entering this card in the following challenges:

Make it Monday - #90 - Linky Party
Paper Sundaes - Pretty in Pink
One Stitch at a Time - #114- Anything Goes
The Paper Players - #96 - CASE - Polka Dots
Moving Along With The Times - Keep it Real

Chocolate "IS" Life

Just thought I would share another card today that I had made for my mom... She puts so much work into our scrapping weekend - I mean hosting 15 scrapbookers for 4 days is a lot of work! So, the week before our time together (when my mojo was finally sitting with me in my craft room) I decided to make a card that we could all sign as a thank you for mom and give to her while we were all there.  This is what I came up with!  I love the way it turned out. I actually inked up this HouseMouse stamp and sentiment - from my old stash of wooden rubber stamps - then added details with my Copics.  The frame is a Cricut cut and the papers are mostly Recollections.  I love the color combo of these papers and they lended well to all the distressing ink added to the edges.
I will be entering the following challenges:
Paper Play - Distressing
Make it Monday - Linky Party
Rainbow Lady Challenge - Let's Get Inky

Mother's Day card

(Raises hand and walks to the podium, clears throat and lifts head)... "Hi, I'm Jodi and I'm a Tiddly-a-holic".  (Crowd answers with a "Hi Jodi" and light applause).
It's true - I am in love with TiddlyInk images... Oh my gosh, could they be any cuter?  I mean really, just adorable!
So, when I set out to create a card for my mom on Mother's Day that was the first folder I started looking through...and of course, immediately found a wonderful image to work with.
I inked her up with my Copics, including a lot of glittery details (which don't show that well) with my glitter pen.  A background embossed with a Cuddlebug folder, some simple paper scraps from my stash, a bubbly bow and some handmade flowers complete the card - easy peasy and beautiful!  Mom loved it and it was a simple way to show her how much she means to me.
I will be entering this card in the following challenges:

Card Crafters Circle - #23 - Sparkle

CYP #110 - Color challenge

I had a chance to pick our challenge for this week over at Craft Your Passion and I picked a color challenge using my all time favorite color combination... Green and Purple!  They are such great spring time colors and the combo is so complimentary!  For this card I used two clear wet embossed images created with SU stamps - then daubed several chalk colors over the top to create the resist technique blocks of color.  I love this technique as it gives you such a great reverse color image.

Come play with us at Craft Your Passion - just pull out your green and purple and join in the fun!

I will be entering this into the following challenges:

Make it Monday - Linky party
Paper Sundaes - Things with wings
One Stitch at a Time - Use your favorites
Card Crafter's Circle - Rainbow bright

Delicious Doodles #19 - Try Something New

So, our challenge over at Delicious Doodles this week was truly what I consider a "challenge"... We are looking to inspire crafters to try something new - something you've never done, or always wanted to try but never given it a whirl.  This is right up my alley so to speak as I love to try new things and come up with inventive ways of creating... After all, it's only paper, right?  That's one reason I create - the process of discovering what I can do.  So what if it doesn't come out the way I thought it would, time to try again... or maybe it will become a "floppertunity" (dubbed term compliments of Torrey).  Either way, it's all about the process to me.

So, here's my card for the week and my new technique was the way I got the bubbles to turn out.  I wish the picture did it justice because they are really coooooolio!  Take my word for it, they look like real bubbles!

I started with this awesome image from Teri of Marina, then printed two sizes of the her bubble border image.  I colored the image using my Copics in nice bright and vibrant colors.

Then for the bubbles I used several very light colors of Copics, V000, R0000, BG0000, Y000, YG000... you get the idea.  I dabbed slight bits of color into the bubble images, just here and there, not really being careful.  Some got one or two colors, others got three or four.  Then I took my stardust gold glitter pen - you know the one that lays down that really fine line of gorgeous glitter - I just used this pen on the bottom line of the bubbles, highlighting the edge.  After all that, I put a drop of crystal lacquer on top of each bubble.  When it dried, the bubbles became almost opalescent with the color coming through and the hint of glitter being magnified by the lacquer... Oh my gosh, it was awesome to see them!  Soooo cool.

Now it's your turn... Let your inner child play this week... Find the MacGyver inside your crafting soul... Have fun and experiment... Let's see what you can do!

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:

Paper Shelter - #63 - Anything Goes

CYP 109 - Distressed/Torn Edges

It's Monday morning again - time for a new challenge at Craft Your Passion.  This week we were sponsored by both Paper Shelter and Doodle Pantry.  I got to use this great image from Doodle Pantry!  Our challenge is torn and distressed edges - so I had some fun with a piercing tool, some ink, a distressing blade and lots of crumpling.  Made it very worn looking...

Come join us and let's see what you can come up with!

I'll be entering this card in this challenge:

Just for kicks...

Recipe for Fun!

15 - friends and family scrapbooking together
2 - tubs full of scrapbooking stickers in the "give away" pile
4 - days together to come up with a project
2 - two sheets of out dated stickers
2 - slightly competitive bestees who love to challenge each other

Combine all the above ingredients, add a little creativity mixed with inspiration and voila ...

Torrey and I decided to have a little fun during our recent scrapbooking retreat.  We each went through the give away sticker pile and came up with two sheets of very out dated stickers - the only difference in them were the colors.  We challenged each other to come up with a card or project using the stickers.  It was a stretch as neither of us have ever used stickers much, let alone old and out dated ones.  But we rose to the occasion - and both came up with cards we were proud to call our own.  You can hardly even tell they were the same stickers - it's amazing what two similar creative minds can come up with when challenged by a little competitiveness.
