CYP #90 - Sketch

Craft Your Passion has a sketch challenge going this week - check out the great sketch! We got a chance to pick our own image this time around and I couldn't wait to work on this adorable one from Mo Manning... Isn't she just the cutest? A coworker was moving and I offered to make a card for everyone to sign and this image was just perfect for it! I love the way the card turned out!

I used my Copics for coloring, the sketch for design, some Basic Grey design papers for the background, my Cricut to cut the spiral flowers and mat, gems to put in the center of the flowers, some Creative Impressions silk ribbon for a bubbly bow and made some fun stick pens out of some jewelry making supplies I had around. The sentiment is a Studio G stamp from the dollar bin at my local craft store.

I hope you join us at Craft Your Passion - the sketch is such a great one this time around and I would love to see your interpretation of it!

I will be entering this card in the following challenges:

The Pixie Cottage - #101 - Someone special

Charisma Cardz Challenges - #50 - Anything goes

Sundays With Crissy - #24 - Anything goes

Simon Says Stamp - Bingo board - Ribbon, gems, sparkle

Make it Monday - #69 - Linky party

Thanks for sharing your day with me! Leave me a comment so I can return the favor and come see what you have created!

Exciting News!

I have been waiting weeks to share my wonderful news... I have been asked to participate in the Craft Your Passions Challenges blog design team! I couldn't be more thrilled and am excited to share with you some of the wonderul images our talented sponsors create. Our challenge this week is "Anything Goes"... A nice easy one to play along with! So, come join us!

Our sponsor is JLJ Designs - I got to pick from their wonderful images and couldn't resist this adorable pig. I printed her out on some Basic Grey paper then added some highlights with my Copics. Lots of stitching, crumpling, layering added to the bright colorful look. I added a pretty little ribbon/bow and some patterned paper covered chipboard XO's to go with the theme. The title is computer generated, then colored with my Copics to match. It turned out very bright and cheery!

I would love to have you come join us at Craft Your Passion Challenges! It's a great way to have some creative fun and get inspired by other amazing artists!

A card for Jen

When I needed an image to make a card for my niece's birthday, I immediately thought of this cute fairy from A Day For Daisies. I'm not sure why, but for some reason, it reminds me of Jen when she was younger. I had fun coloring her with my Copic's, trying to keep it soft and pastel, but as always, I have a hard time leaving white, so it ended up a little darker than I pictured. I do like it though. The background is all Copic colored as well, and the wings were just touched with a little yellow, then I used my concoction of shimmer paint to give it sparkle. (I have the instructions for this in my tutorial section if you are interested). I distressed the edges of the papers, (some DCWV and some Basic Grey), then finished it with a little baker's twine from My Minds Eye and a matching button on the stamped sentiment. I think Jen will appreciate it this happy little card.

I would like to enter this in the following challenges:

Charisma Cards #29 - Summer Colors

Pollycraft Monday #102 - Summer Fun

Paper Shelter #23 - Spotlight on Green

Paper Take Weekly - Getting Cute

Ribbon Carousel #12 - Button

Make it Monday #46 - Linky Party

Copic Creations #54 - Pastel Colors

SFYTT May 2011

I found an amazing sketch over at ihearttostamp... Check it out - so versitile and easy to adapt. I needed to make a card for my mom for her birthday on Saturday and wanted it to be something special. This sketch was a great jump start to make this card tonight. I used a new Hero Arts stamp, stamped on several different patterned papers from Basic Grey. I paper pieced the flowers and slightly tolled them to give it some dimension. Added some shimmering powder on top of some glossy accents to give it some shimmer. I added a simple sentiment, again paper pieced to match the patterned papers. Other than that, lots of matted cardstock and a nice bubbly bow finishes it off. I stamped the image again on the envelope and added some similar color with my Copics to make it matching. That's probably about it for me this week. I've got birthday dinner tomorrow night and tournament with Haley this weekend. Maybe I'll get a chance to retreat into my studio again soon.

Thanks for stopping by!
