Hippo Birdie 2 Ewe

It's been much too long since I've been here to post a creation - let's just say, life gets in the way sometimes!  I really want to be better about it - and it hasn't been that I haven't been creating - I just haven't had the time to photograph and post as much.  Well, I'm here today to change that!

I created this card for my father's 91st birthday - hard to believe he's 91 when you meet him... I think most people would say he's in his early 80's the way he looks and acts.  I am amazed by this man so much.

I needed something totally unique for this occasion - enter inspiration from Torrey - and voila!  It came together easily...  She can be a thousand miles away, and she is still inspiring me, each and every day!

I used a bunch of Lawn Fawn products including the hippo and birdie stamps, the hills, grass and fence border dies and the words hippo and birdie.  The "2" is just handwritten, and the sheep and EWE word are from My Favorite Things.  I used a cloud stencil from My Favorite Things as well as some Distress Inks to create the cloud background.  The hay bail stamp is from an older farm set that honestly, I can't source - not sure who makes it.  All images were stamped on textured cardstock and colored with my Prisma's, then fussy cut.  The patterned papers were all just from my scraps.

Thinking of You - MFT

There is something so wonderfully whimsical about Gnomes... I can't help but collect gnome stamps whenever I can find adorable ones.  This one is from My Favorite Things and I love that there are several great ones to chose from.  It's called BB You Gnome Me.  I had fun coloring this one up with my Copics - then using a border punch from EK Success for the notebook edge, a grass border die cut from Lawn Fawn for the bottom and a Jelly Bean die cut for the sun.  I think it's just a fun and happy card.

Ewe are loved - My Favorite Things

I have a wonderful friend who is going through a rough time right now with the health of her mom.  I wanted to send her a card to let her know I was thinking of her and praying for her and her family.  This card I created last time Torrey was here just seem to say what I was wanting to convey.

I used the adorable stamp collection from My Favorite Things called Ewe Are The Best.  If I remember right the challenge Torrey had given me before I made this one was "black and white with one pop of color"... not my easiest challenge, but I think I pulled it off.  It's smaller than normal but the images dictated the size, (2.75" x 4.25").

The images are colored with my Copics, fussy cut out cause I don't have the die cuts to match, and placed on a simple blocked background.  Nothing special in the design, but I think it fit the mood well.

Card Patterns 76, Color Throwdown 104 - My Favorite Things

This is a triple hitter! It's a thank you card to send to the wonderful folks at My Favorite Things, plus a card to submit for the current Color Throwdown #104 and for the Card Patterns sketch 76.

I love the images of todays stamps, but occassionally I get caught up in the current colors, themes and the such... Every now and then it's nice to use a very modern stamp and still be able to make it work in a more detressed, aged card. I also love to use up old supplies...it's an awesome feeling when you find that piece of paper that just seems to fit the mood you're looking for. This old stuff from Provo Craft worked perfectly. I added some chipboard letters from We R Memory Keepers, modified to fit the color scheme, a perfect resting place for this cute stamp.

Originally I had brads in the upper right corner to keep with the sketch. They just seemed like after-thoughts. So, instead I found some butterflies I could stamp... adding some sepia stippled ink over all of the stamped images helped tone them down to match the feel of the paper. I am very happy with the way it turned out...

Glue Arts ... You are fabulous!

This sassy lady came from My Favorite Things - she seemed the perfect pairing for this "thank you" card to send to the fabulous people at Glue Arts. Gotta love the pink and green combo!!!

20 Anniversary Card ... for the love of my life!

I made this cute little card tonight to give to my hubby tomorrow on our 20th anniversary. He is my soulmate and the love of my life! I'm soooo lucky to have found him and blessed to be his wife. I love you Tom!
