4th of July - Crafter's Companion

It's about time to celebrate the birth of our great nation!  I love the 4th of July with picnics, outside games, lying on the grass looking up and of course...the fireworks!

For this card I colored up some of the images from the Crafter's Companion Patriotic sets with my Spectrum Noir alcohol markers, the put them in a frame from Sheena's A Little Bit Sketchy - Just Torn stamp to make it look like they blew right through the page.  I love the combination!

I think I'll add this card to a couple of challenges:

Thanks for joining in the fun today!

Clematics card - Crafter's Companion

There's a new release over at Crafter's Companion today from Sheena - and these are so unique and cool.  They are in the "A little bit sketchy" collection and all have this wonderful torn through look to them.  This one is called Clematics.  It's is just too coolio?

I stamped this image onto Spectrum Aqua Watercolour cardstock I used my Spectrum Noir AquaBlend Colored Pencils to add the color and dimension, then just layered it on some patterned paper and cardstock.  I used distress ink on the edges to complete the aged look.  Simple, but stunning in my humble opinion!

You gotta head over to the website to check out this new collection... I would love to see what you can do with them.

Thanks for joining me today.

Day of the Dead bracelet - Crafter's Companion

I knew as soon as I saw these new stamps from Crafter's Companion that I wanted to use them to create a Day of the Dead charm bracelet.  How fun is that?

These new stamps were released recently and created by Sheena Douglas and called Day of the Dead.  I used a combination of stamps from the Floral Fiesta, Sugar Skull, and Union of the Souls sets to create this project.

I started with some ShrinkyDink material, then stamped the images on it using a permanent die ink.  I then had to figure out what to color the images with to get the most vibrant image.  I love the way the Spectrum Noir AquaBlend Colored Pencils went on so smooth.  I didn't add any water to them, just colored the images and saturated the areas with lots of pigment.  I fussy cut them, added a hole to hang it from and then used a heat tool to shrink them.  You could use the oven as suggested by ShrinkyDink, but I find a heat tool works just as well.

Then I just attached them to a chain bracelet along with some beads and trinkets.  I think it turned out adorable!!!!

Here are the Crafter's Companion supplies I used.

I think I'll toss my hat (or bracelet as the case may be) into some challenges:

Inspire canvas - Crafter's Companion

Happy Saturday - so glad to be home and catching up on laundry, cleaning my craft studio and spending some time with Tom.  Life is good!!!

I wanted to share another canvas I created for my collage... two down, three or so to go!  I can't wait to get them all finished and hung.  Looking forward to seeing them together.

For this one I used a great set from Crafter's Companion which has a set of stamps and die cuts that match.  It's from the ubber-talented Sheena Davis and this one is called Sheena's Perfect Partners - Sweet William.  I also collaged a bit with the Sheena - A Little Bit Scenic stamp set called Silhouette grasses and the Kimono Paper Moon set.  I colored the main image with Spectrum Aqua Watercolor Markers and used the Spectrum Noir Sparkle pen in crystal clear to highlight things.  I am really happy with the same it turned out.

Here's a list of the colors I used and the Crafter's Companion supply links:

Stamps / Dies - Sheena Perfect Partners Sweet William
Sheena - A Little Bit Scenic - silhouette grasses
Kimono - Paper Moon
Spectrum Aqua Watercolor Markers - blossom, sunset, moss, bud green
Spectrum Noir Sparkle Pens - crystal clear

Smile wall decor - Crafter's Companion

I absolutely adore the Sheena Perfect Partner stamps and die sets.  I think I have at least four of them.  They are so versatile and easy to play with.  For this wall hanging, I stamped them on watercolor paper with Versamark ink, then heated it up with some white embossing powder.  That gave me a great way to display the new AquaBlend watercolor pencils, adding just a bit of color, then letting the water move the pigment around within the embossed image.  I love the look it gave this flower.  From there I just creased and molded the paper to get this very dimensional flower.  I love the way it popped on the black background.  To that I added a small section of the Edge'able Die'sire Butterfly Dreams die cut above a ribbon and finished it off with the wooden word "smile".  Cute and sweet, easy and simple!

I think I'll enter this in some challenges:

Love to Scrap - anything goes
Craft Your Passion - anything goes
Chocolate, Coffee & Cards - use ribbon

Thanks for the visit - come back tomorrow for a new show and tell!

Hugs,
Jodi

Magnolia - Prayer Journal - Crafter's Companion

Happy Friday crafty peeps in cyberland.  Back again today to show another project I created using the wonderful Sheena stamp from her collection A Little Bit Floral called Magnolia Blossom for Crafter's Companion.

I am normally private about my prayer journals, but I think that may need to change.  They are personal, but they are also a party of who I am and a great expression of my faith and beliefs.  Why shouldn't I share that, right?

I stamped directly onto a torn out page from an old book, then used the new AquaBlend watercolor pencils from Spectrum.  If you didn't snatch them up this week on HSN, you are going to have to be patient ... but they will hit the online site soon.

When coloring on this fragile paper, I had to be careful not to use too much water, just enough to blend the color out - but definitely can't overwork it.  I love the look it gives with the print behind it.

Challenges for this project:

Stamping Sensations - flower power
Penny's Paper Crafty Challenge - anything goes
A Bit More Time to Craft - anything goes
Crafty Creations - spring fever
My Time To Craft - flowers

Thanks for joining me today - happy Friday everyone!

Hugs,
Jodi

Mr. & Mrs. - Crafter's Companion

My niece just married the man of her dreams on a very beautiful wedding day... and I needed a special card to help them celebrate.  I tried to make the card in the colors of her wedding, although this peach was a little lighter than her coral, it still has the basic color combo I was going for.

I played around with the new AquaBlend watercolor pencils that Spectrum Noir is introducing tomorrow on HSN.  You gotta get your hands on these - they are a dream to work with.  Check out all the wonderful products Sara Davies is showcasing tomorrow during their all day craft shows.

The Crafter's Companion supplies I used are:

Stamp - Sheena A Little Bit Floral Magnolia Blossom
AquaBlend Pencils - watermelon, papaya, carol, apricot, pearl white, champagne, charcoal brown, pesto green, nutmet, oregan, tobacco, fossil grey, gravel, asphalt
Spectrum Aqua watercolor paper

Artist Trading Cards - Crafter's Companion

If you haven't heard already, Sara Davies is about to debut some amazing new products from Crafter's Companion on HSN on March 16th.  You gotta get in on this... there are some wonderful fresh things to play with - and my favorite is the AquaBlend watercolor pencils by Spectrum Noir.

I had such fun creating these simple artist trading cards featuring some delicious stamps from Sheena (French 50's Cafe and Provence).  They are colored up with the new AquaBlend's, fussy cut out and then put on the simple backgrounds.  What a fun trio, huh?

Here's a list of the Crafter's Companion supplies I used:

Sheena - A Little Bit Scenic Provence, French 50'sCafe
AquaBlend pencils - gravel, fossil grey, dark slate, gun metal, iron grey, fig, wild orchid, aubergine, current, beeswax, oregano, cypress, kiwi, violet, honeycomb, straw, nutmeg
Spectrum Aqua watercolor paper

Now on to the challenges:

Happy weekend!

New Home - Crafter's Companion

Back today with another project I made with the new Spectrum AquaBlend pencils.  This time I stamped on some lightly patterned paper, then colored on top of that with the AquaBlends.  I was so pleasantly surprised how well they worked on the patterned paper.  I didn't over blend them as I was afraid the paper would pile, but it smoothed out very easily and blended nicely.

The Crafter's Companion supplies used can be found here:

Sheena - A Little Bit Scenic - Provence stamp
Die'sire Edge'ables - Renaissance
Spectrum AquaBlends - ginger, black umber, dove grey, asphalt, tobacco, nutmeg, iron grey, coral, sorrel, carrot, crocus, rose, blueberry, papaya, bison, cherrywood, cypress, oregano, deep forest
Crafter's Companion Ultimate Tool & bow maker

I used the die cut to decorate a simple gift bag as well to match.  Simple but definitely adds a touch of class to the bag.

This project will go into the following challenges:

Through The Craft Room - anything goes
Love to Scrap - bare necessities
Craft Your Passion - anything goes

Happy day!

You are Amazing - Crafter's Companion

Hello crafty-peeps out in blogland.  I'm back again today to show off this new make for Crafter's Companion... A sweet card for any occasion.

I used an adorable stamp from Crafter's Companion's Angelica & Friends collection called Jessica.  I colored her up with my Spectrum Noir markers (see list of colors below), and then placed her on a framed die cut from Die'Sire called Cameo.  I used the Spectrum Sparkle crystal clear pen to add a touch of sparkle to her wings and to the flowers on the embossed paper, which was embossed using the Sheena Petite Floral embossing folder.  A simple sentiment stamp finishes the card.

I think I'll try this one in a few challenges:

Through the Craft Room Door - anything goes
Love to Scrap - anything goes
Craft Your Passion - anything goes
A Bit More Time to Craft - anything goes

Hugs,
Jodi

Decorated Frame - Crafter's Companion

I have a quick tutorial over on the Crafter's Companion website showing the details on how I created this cute little frame for my office.  I love taking things I find in bargain bins or thrift stores and giving them new life.  I loved the color of this frame when I found it, but it had some dingy quote on it that was totally inappropriate for the picture... So, a little craft paper, some great Crafter's Companion products and an hour later and bam!  A new frame ready to display a pic of my adorable granddaughter.

Go check out the website to see how to create one yourself!

I think I'll enter this into a challenge or two.

Believe Canvas - Crafter's Companion

Back today to share another make for Crafter's Companion - this one an altered canvas.  I want to make three of these to go on my wall, all with the same style and feel to them.  So, this is the first, with more to come.

I created the background using some tissue paper, and my Gelatos, then some whipped spackle for texture.  The stamps on the background are Crafter's Companion from Stamp It Australia - Dreamer Take Flight.  The flowers are from Crafter's Companion Sheena Perfect Partners Victoria Floral Bluebell with the matching die cutting set.  I colored them with my Spectrum Aqua markers in meadow, moss, bud green, teal, peacock blue and wildflower.  I also used them to color the wooden word "believe".  They did an amazing job on the wood!  I then highlighted the edges with the Spectrum Sparkle crystal clear pen.

I love the way the flowers stand out from the background and are so vibrant.  I think that I'll carry that theme through with the other projects in the set.

I will enter this project into the following challenges:

Craft Your Passion - anything goes
Crafting By Design - anything goes
That Craft Place Challenge - anything goes
Stamping Sensations - anything goes
A Bit More Time to Craft - anything goes

Decorated notebook - Crafter's Companion

A quick post today to show off this adorable decorated notebook.  I created this for Crafter's Companion using several of their stamped images and die cuts.  (See the list below for specifics.)

I grabbed some great paper scraps from My Mind's Eye, and layered the background.  The butterfly is stamped on patterned paper, then fussy cut.  The flower is also stamped on different patterned papers, and then die cut before layering it together.  I added a touch of sparkle to highlight it all.  The top is finished with a bunch of ribbon scraps tied to the metal spiral.

The Crafter's Companion supplies I used are listed and linked below:

Flutterby Stamps
Sheena Perfect Partners Victorian Floral Anemone stamp and die cut
Spectrum Sparkle pens - Moonstone, Crystal clear, Harvest moon, Pink Champagne

Dream Banner - Crafter's Companion

Sharing a make today that uses a whole bunch of stamps from Crafter's Companion as well as Spectrum Noir markers and the Spectrum Sprakle pens... (Complete list and links below).

I found this canvas banner pieces in the clearance bin and thought they would make a pretty wall hanging with a little bit of decoration.  I stamped directly on them using a permanent die, then colored them with my Spectrum Noir pens, and then added a little bling with the Sparkle pens as well.  I strung them on a pretty wired ribbon and used a bit of hot glue to attach them along the ribbon.  I made a pretty bow to finish off the top!  Easy peasy!

Crafter's Companion supplies:

Spectrun Noir markers - CG1, CG2, LV1, LV2, PL1, PL2, PL4, BT2, BT4, CT2, GB5
Flutterby Stamps, Sheena - A Little Bit Scenic French 50's Cafe, A Little Bit Scenic Provence, As Scene on Screen Wouldn't it be Lovely 1
Spectrum Sparkles - crystal clear

Think I'll share this with the following challenges:

Have a great Monday - if there is such a thing!  =)

Bonjour - Crafter's Companion

I'm back again with another make for Crafter's Companion.  This one is a simple card created with a wonderful image from Sheena Douglas - A Little Bit Scenic called 50's French Cafe.  The set is loaded with fun images surrounding this cafe spot... I think next time I'll build a full scene.

I colored it with my Spectrum Aqua watercolor pens (Fawn, Bud Green, Sea Green, Aquamarine, Evergreen, Desert, Slate, Blossom, Spice, Terracotta, Chestnut, Burgundy, Navy, Chocolate, Charcoal, Peacock Blue) There is so much freedom in letting the water and ink mix and make the shadows and textures for you.  I think I could easily become addicted to watercolor painting.  It's very artistic and therapeutic.

Think this card deserves a challenge or two...

Fab n Funky - something new - new stamp set
Crafting by Design - anything goes
The Paper Girls Challenge - home and family

I'll be back soon with another make...  until then....

Hugs,
Jodi

"Every Tree" Crafter's Companion

Taking a quick break from all the Christmas cards to show off this pretty card I made for Crafter's Companion using my Spectrum Aqua's in a little different way.  I applied them directly to this beautiful stamp from Sheena Douglas's "As Scene on Screen" set called "Wouldn't it be lovely".  After stamping it on the Spectrum watercolor paper, I used a brush dipped in water to lightly spread the ink around a bit giving it the water colored look but still having the strong lines of design from the stamp.  I love this technique!

I also used another stamp from Sheena Douglas from her "A Little Bit Scenic" sets called "Silhouette Grasses" for the sentiment.  I fussy cut around part of the stamp area, then finished off the oval shape to create the framed window affect.  Adding a few layers of cardstock and a pretty ribbon and bow completed the look.

My Crafter's Companion supplies were:

Spectrum Aquas - Leaf green, Spice, Desert, Marigold, ScarletStamp - Sheena Douglass - As Scene on Screen, Wouldn't it be lovely and A Little Bit Scenic, Silhouette Grasses
Spectrum Aqua water color paper

This card will be put in some challenges just for grins!

Live in the Moment

I am a little late with this one... the weekend kind of got away from me.  But I wanted to post a new card today that I created while Torrey was here playing.  It was one of my first cards using the Crafter's Companion Spectrum Aqua markers.  I gotta tell ya, these are fast becoming one of my favorite colorants in my craft room.  The more I use them, the more I just love them.  They are so easy and diverse... My only gripe, I want more colors - haha!  I would buy them all for sure.

I used a very versatile stamp set from Crafter's Companion designed by Sheena Douglass called "A little Bit Scenic".  It's all silhouette stamps and so clean and great for the water colored background.  The sentiment is from the same set.

I used the Peacock Blue, Bud Green and King Fisher colors of Spectrum Aquas to create the background.

I'll toss this into the following challenges:

Craft Your Passion - anything goes
Love to Scrap - anything goes

Thanks for dropping in.

Hugs,
Jodi

With Love - some watercolor fun

It has been such a fun week playing with my new stash from Crafter's Companion.  I am enjoying the Spectrum Aqua Markers so much!

For this card I used the aqua markers to color directly onto the stamp (Sheena - As Seen On Screen - Wouldn't it be Lovely 1).  I then put a tad bit of water on a small brush and applied it to the stamped image to spread the color slightly.  I love how easy this makes a watercolored look.  After that, I used the fine line side of the markers to add some of the detail back into the image.  Such an easy technique for such an artistic look.

Make sure you head over to the Crafter's Companion website and check out the wonderful birthday sales they have going this week - lots of great things to celebrate 10 years for the UK business.

Love to enter this card in the following challenges:

Fussy and Fancy Friday - flowers
Craft Your Passion - anything goes
Through the Craft Room Door - anything goes

Thanks for stopping by - hoping your week is delightful!

Hugs,
Jodi
